Kåre Nymark jr. from Langevåg in Sula is a unique and exciting jazz trumpet player with experience from band such as Nymark Collective, Gumbo, Funky Butt and Jazzmob, not to mention the Ytre Suløens Jass-ensemble. The activity ranges, in other words, over a wide range of styles. Inspiration from many trips to New Orleans is still present, combined with a marked blues expression and an open and timeless approach to the jazz tradition.
Kåre Nymark Jr.. Band was established in 2009. The first concert was the opening concert at Ungjazz in Ålesund 2009, where Kåre also received Ungjazzprisen 09. The music is melodic hard-swinging jazz music, with references both to the hard bop, gospel, blues, African and Caribbean music and New Orleans. All songs are original compositions by Kåre. The band consists of great musicians Kåre has had the pleasure to play with in other contexts. Now they are put together in a band.
He has earlier collaborated with many musicians and artists. The Real Thing, Earle Hyman, Nils Petter Molvaer, Silje Nergaard, Tord Gustavsen, Kristin Asbjornsen, Arve Henriksen, SKRUK, John Pål Inderberg, Henning Sommero, Arne Domnerus and Morten Gunnar Larsen is just the top of the list. In addition to working as a studio musician, Nymark is also widely used as a teacher, and teaches at various conferences across the country. To date he has recorded 19 albums with his own projects, and participated in many others as a studio musician. He has toured in the United States, Africa, Asia and Europe.
The concert at Victoria is also the album release for Kåre Nymark Jr. Bands latest release.
