Since his breakthrough around year 2000 as Norways new promising jazz talent, violinist Ola Kvernberg has been a very busy man with several bands and constellations. GammalGrass, Ingebrigt Håker Flaten Quintet, Steinar Raknes Quartet, Scarlatti Ensemble and the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra are just a few examples from a wide range of projects over the past ten years. Not to mention Liarbird, the grand commissioned work from the jazz festivals in Trondheim and Molde 2010, later celebrated for their intense club gigs all over Norway. The record released by Jazzland Rec was awarded with the Norwegian Jazz Grammy for 2011.
Central to his career is yet Ola Kvernberg's own trio, in which Steinar Raknes has played bass since the very beginning in 2000 and Erik Nylander has kept rhythms tight since 2004. The trio's successful recordings have received well deserved praise from both critics and a devoted audience, and "People" (2009) resulted in naming them the official NTNU's Jazz Ambassadors. The trio challenges genre boundaries and leads the music in a personal direction, in addition to an intense and groovy interplay between the three musicians.
Presence, energy and playfulness are the core experiences for Ola Kvernberg Trio gig. In other words, do not miss out!
