We have a soft spot for musical masters who raise their chin to peek across the genre fence. With Bill Frisell’s golden film music barely stopped resonating in our ears, John Scofield now comes riding in with a guitar case full of country classics.

Having been defining figure in jazz guitar for forty years –  in Mile’s band in the eighties, working with Pat Metheney or Joe Lovano, and not least on its own – Scofield has now turned his attention to the great country tradition, and above all outlaw country. The Scofield Quartet is an iconic band. Jazz and country are the two great American music forms. What more do you need! Dust-off your hat and boots and come on down!
