An impulse from the heart resulted in stick-swinger Øyvind Skarbø contacting Zanussi and Nevrin with his vision of them doing a concert that would be a sublime unity. The three barely knew each other and had never played together, but Skarbø’s idea of the cohesion of the three instrumentalist went really well at the first rehearsal and in concert in 2009. When saxophonist Ljungkvist later joined the band, the last piece fell into place: There was room for all, with a lightness, playfulness and enthusiasm that was better than Skarbø had imagined. He had created the band he dreamed of, Honeyleap! If musicians feel fine on stage, the audience feels fine too! Honeyleap feels fresh and exciting, the landscapes are open with great, confident musicians. The debut album will be celebrated this evening with great compositions from the band. It feels right for the band, it feels right for us!
