As a 10-year-old, Øyvind Skarbø (1982, Håkon Kornstad, Honeyleap) started his first band, Bly de Blyant (Lead the Pencil). After 20 years of searching, last year he finally found the two individuals that were needed to realize this genre-neutralizing trio. From Brooklyn, New York, was multi-instrumentalist Shahzad Ismaily (Marc Ribot Ceramic Dog, Yoko Ono, Bonnie Prince Billy), one of the world's most unusual musicians. And by boat from Iceland came the extremely influential and individual super guitarist Hilmar Jensson (TYFT, Jim Black's AlasNoAxis).
The concert at Victoria marks the highpoint for the unclassifiable album ABC, which was released on the quality label Hubro. Politically incorrect riffs, free improvisation, pseudo-contemporary, blues and abstract stand-up, are all combined into what we can only call Bly de Blyant. As Hilmar once expressed on stage, "I do not know what kind of music we're making any longer - and I do not care!"
Hilmar Jensson - guitar, Shahzad Ismaily - bass, Moog, drums, vocals, Øyvind Skarbø - drums
