Free jazz might from one of the legends.
This is an evening for the books, von Schlippenbach is a living legend in European free jazz. With classical education in both piano and composition, he went on to liberate his formal training and carry music in the unknown. One the surface, he consists of ten independent fingers, each with their own ideas. But just below the surface lurks virtuosity, great music emerging in continual new twists and changing emotional range. Schlippenbach has a deep insight that spans ensembles from orchestral music down to trio and solo formats. All together this results in a cornucopia of exciting ideas.
First a solo concert, then in improvisation with two highly-competent and independent musicians. Ståle Liavik Solberg has rarely played the same song twice, he is a multifaceted musician who excels as a nuanced, resourceful and responsive drummer. Known for his Ensemble, 5, 13 and before that Wibutee; Per Zanussi on the bass is an experience. Inventive with a floating style, he knows his instrument to the extremes and how to bend it! Expect trio magic!
