Norway's perhaps foremost goat horn player and saxophonist has an impressive drive to constantly exploring the relationship between jazz and folk music - and all around, and everything outside. It's hard to put a label on Karl Seglem. Several of his projects over the years have in common to distance themselves from the music's origins, for example, by combining traditional instruments and electronics, so the music first and foremost a vital and personal expression. Or "world jazz", which he calls the mix of music and soundscape. Mountains, sand dunes and the asphalt jungle. Convincing, outgoing and beautiful!
"Som spor" was commissioned by Vossajazz 2012, and is based on the material we have heard on the records Femstein (2004), Urbs (2007) and Ossicles (2010). Here we find a handpicked ensemble with two Hardanger fiddles in addition to piano, guitar, bass, drums and percussion, and also a dedicated visual production. About the title of the work the composer himself said that "a bit of thought behind it is that time passes, and we leave some marks behind. Maybe these tracks will disappear completely, maybe a few will be left standing. "
