Snarky Puppy’s piano maestro goes solo
At the heart of success-band Snarky Puppy, which has sold out Victoria six times (!) in two years, we find Bill Laurance. The Grammy-winning pianist released his first album under his own name in 2014 and has followed up with around one release a year since then. Aftersun came out last year and has been on top of the jazz charts ever since. `in this constellation he has looked past the large ensemble in favour of a rhythm heavy quartet nodding jovially to Herbie Hancock as much as Weather Report.
Aftersun is a tribute to the cosmos and mixes danceable African percussion with deep world music beats and the groovy, genre challenging style we have become so familiar with through Snarky Puppy. An evening where both head and feet get to move!
