Alongside Esbjörn Svensson’s EST, Per Texas Johansson was the one who really put Swedish jazz on the map in the latter half of the nineties with releases such as «Alla mina kompisar». But by the end of the decade, he had grown tired, and he put the horn on the shelf in favour of a nursing education. Too good, many believed. Occasional runs in other bands popped-up, but there was great joy when last year, after sixteen years absence, he was finally back as bandleader on the album «The långa rulltrapporna Fleming Berg».

Infinitely cool tunes, with the shimmering and original sound that at times rages with Texas on clarinet.
