A night dedicated to the innovative and influential jazz label Clean Feed.

The Portuguese, Lisbon-based, record label Clean Feed released around 500 records of innovative improvisational music since its inception in 2001. Founded on the idea that music is a genuinely global phenomenon, Clean Feed has united European and American jazz in a way we have not seen since ECM started. During the 15 years of its existence, a number of new Norwegian bands have been given the chance to reach out to an international audience.

We celebrate their anniversary by devoting an entire evening to the record company and all three bands either have or are going to release albums on Clean Feed during the year.

Momentum
been around since 2014 and now joins us with their debut album. A powerful trio inspired by natural phenomena and expressive jazz, this is a band more concerned about energy than musical conventions.

Jørgen Mathiesen – saxophone, Christian Meaas Svendsen – bass, Andreas Wildhagen – drums

The Belgian pianist Jonas Cambien has lived in Norway since 2008 and has studied both classical and jazz. In this acoustic trio, he has picked musicians from the top shelf of young Norwegian jazz, and their play is open, airy and modern. The debut «A zoology of the future» will already be on the street by the time you read this.

Cortex are weather-beaten Clean Feed veterans who come to bring their own storm to Victoria. They already have one album behind them, the Victoria-recorded live album from two years ago, and they now have a new one in the pipeline. The music remains unmistakable and rock-hard sixties freebag in the spirit and flesh of Ornette and Don Cherry. A concert to enjoy!

Kristoffer Berre Alberts – saxophone, Thomas Johansson – trumpet, Ola Høyer – bass, Gard Nilssen – drums

Nothing beats beeing there in person, but watching the livestream is quite alright too! Ch-ch-check it out here:
