Take a Swedish trumpeter with roots from the Balkans, mix in a few rock musicians, some top-shelf jazzisters and season with some good pinches of Sun Ra-references and you have Subtropic Arkestra. Goran Kajfes serves generous portions of hot stew to a frozen jazz audience!

Kajfes was awarded the Nordic Music Prize in 2011. A few years later came The Reason Why Vol. 1, a cover album brimming with loving irreverent energy. The title was a promise of more, and last year came the sequel. More Turkish psychedelics, more Afro-Brazilian heat, more festive and love, more of everything.
