Big, joyous tenor sound transporting tradition
Knut Riisnæs is a mountain among Norwegian jazz saxophonists and with a new album last year his quartet demonstrated that they continue to demonstrate no shortage of vitality and pure playing pleasure “… a new album in Knut Riisnæs will always be a Norwegian jazz event and so it is also this time” writes Terje Mosnes about the record on Jazzinorge.no. The inspiration and some of the material is taken from classic ‘60s and ‘70s jazz, and the band moves effortlessly from hard swing to complete tonal control and sensitivity. The fresh tones they bring are a mix of original material by the band members, songs of famous jazz musicians and some standards from ‘The Great American Songbook’.
Look forward to an inspired night with an agile quartet. An historical event from the best blend!
