Modern, melodic mountain jazz.
In his quiet way, Voss-raised Tore Brunborg, the Buddy Prize winner with a distinctive and beautiful tone, has been a pillar of support in Norwegian jazz for thirty years – from his time in Masqualero and Jazzpunkensemblet to recent years with Tord Gustavsen Quartet and Meadow.
Under his own name, we are possibly seeing the quartet with the greatest hunger. It has existed in various constellations from the start, always with the best people, and the latest edition is no exception. Aarset, Raknes and Johansen are a team that most can only dream of and were originally put together to work YM under Vossajazz in 2013. Two years later came the gorgeous album «Slow Snow» on ACT, where Brunborg and company weaves sound blankets with silver thread.
Tore Brunborg – saxophone, Hilmar Jensson – guitar, Steinar Raknes – bass, Per Oddvar Johansen – drums. Special guest: Bugge Wesseltoft – piano and electronics
