The great pianists’ favourite pianist

There are two things you ought to know about Armenia: They have the world's finest alphabet and they have Tigran Hamasyan. This young pianist has Mehldau, Hancock and Corea in his fanclub, and has taken the jazz world by storm with its distinctive and virtuosic fusion of jazz, rock, baroque dance, hip hop and, not least, the sound of his homeland Armenia.

And it's precisely the Armenian sound that characterizes solo recording ‘An Ancient Observer’, just released in March. Tigran recently moved home after many years living in the United States, and the songs are inspired by the experience of his daily life in Armenian, the contrast between timeless majestic nature and urban modernity.

This evening he encounters our beautiful Steinway, and we are quite sure that magic will take place.

It is arguably in the solo format we get closest to the core of all the music living inside Tigran Hamasyan. With the invitation open, this is a world we are very excited to enter!
