Oslo is known as its own planet. Here, among the classic barber shops, craft beers and jazz students, we also amazingly find one of Mali's top percussionists. Sidiki Camara, virtuoso on djembe, calabash and balafon, in addition to being an outstanding singer. Camera has traveled around the world as solo percussionist with Mali's national ballet, and he is considered one of the creators of the modern wave of West African Manding music.
Camara is a permanent member of the Bill Frisell's The Intercontinentals and frequent guest artist with Frisell's New Quartet. After he moved to Oslo, he has collaborated with a variety of Norwegian musicians, not least Bugge Wesseltoft.
We look forward to a boundless evening where Malian tradition instruments will hone against saxophones and western signatures, a world class drummer with a team of handpicked musicians.
