A lyrically receptive drummer has committed to his journeyman’s piece through his gorgeous album «Let’s Dance». In this material, he has expanded and personified his light, rolling style with strong signatures, all which opens space for Torben Snekkestad’s and Helge Lien’s improvisational work. It’s an opening where all are seeking the essence of jazz. He calls the band Vektløs, and as a drummer, this is definitely an exciting rhythmic goal. All in all, we hear good weight, strong melodies and substance from a fantastic trio!

In jazz, the solo has always been as an important electrolyte as Norway’s Maja Ratkje. Uncompromising, complex and very tough! Solo concert for drums are rare, but the likes of Han Bennike and Milford Graves have ensured that solo drumming has certainly developed as its own gold plated cannon.

Australia’s Will Guthrie finds himself at ease in this celebrated company. He is known for his long and meditative concerts where he plays drums, percussion, rubbish – basically everything that makes noise – along with microphones and electronics. In a similar way, he finds himself in the same terrain between free-improvisation and contemporary music as Maja Ratkje. Uncompromising complex and very tough!
