Ola Kvernberg returns to National Jazz Scene, this time with his regular trio, and with the release of his latest recording Northern Tapes! Violinist and composer Ola Kvernberg has a background in folk music tradition and graduated from the jazz school in Trondheim. In recent years he has made his mark as a composer for large projects like "Liarbird" which won the Spellemann's prize for the year's best jazz album in 2011 and as a composer of music for film. He recently was awarded the Amanda Prize for the music to "Chasing the wind."

Ola Kvernberg has a mesmerizing effect on the violin and, together with bassist Steinar Raknes and drummer Erik Nylander, they create an intense and diverse trio, revered and respected both in and outside Norway. The music is both energetic and cinematic, and reflects Kvernberg's personality as jazz performer and composer.
