Colin Stetson (35) from Michigan is definately not a "new talent", but he has not been much mentioned here in Norway. Over the past years he has developed his unique solo voice on saxophones and clarinets, culminating in the release of the album New History Warfare Vol. 1″ on Agoo Records in 2008.

Stetson now resides in Montreal, QC, and performs regularly on assorted saxophones, clarinets, cornet, french horn and flute. His latest solo record New History Warfare Vol. 2: Judges” was released in February 2011 on Constellation.

Aside from his work as a soloist, Stetson has brought his talents to the stage and studio with dozens of artists over the past decade, including Tom Waits, Arcade Fire, TV on the Radio, Feist, Laurie Anderson and Lou Reed. Colin is a current member of the band Bon Iver, who will be touring in support of their new record in 2011, on which he also appears.

We are very excited to present this amazing artist for the first time in Oslo.

DUPLEX

Duplex consists of Harald Lassen on tenor and soprano saxophone and Christian Meaas Svendsen on bass. They both study at the Norwegian Academy of Music, and through a longstanding cooperation in the Duplex duo, they've come up with a peculiar expression of this unusual format. The music is self composed and based on improvisational elements. The duo is also working with concepts and using techniques that takes the music to the contemporary tradition. The instrument's traditional features will be challenged, but without trying to sound like something that is not there. The result is a lyrical, immediate and experimental soundscape that is as welcoming as it is challenging.
